What we process for optics & sensors

Increasingly, optical components are cut, drilled and marked by laser instead of ground and polished — decisive for prototypes and fast-changing designs.

Precision holes in optical filters

Contactless drilling — no tool wear, no load on the coating.

Free-form cutting of lenses & windows

Any geometry without dedicated tooling — flat cost across designs.

Coating removal & patterning

Selective, layer-accurate ablation with the green DPSS laser.

In-glass marking

Permanent, legible traceability for regulated industries.

Application example

Filter blanks, drilled and cut on one platform

Material: fused-silica filter blanks, 2 mm. Task: an array of precision through-holes plus an outer free-form contour, in volumes too low for dedicated tooling. Result: contactless laser drilling and cutting on one machine — no micro-cracks at the hole edges, first samples in days.

Contract processing

Prototype-first: from sample to series

Prototypes, small batches and R&D parts from every industry — from industrial sensors and consumer optics to defence and UAV systems. Low volumes, frequent iteration, no capital commitment: MDI’s Jobshop carries your part from first sample to recurring series on one platform.
